Cookies

You may wonder why we are alerting you the situation about the arcane subject of 'cookies', which are small text files placed by websites on their visitors’ computers. They’re typically used to identify that particular visitor and provide them with a better experience. Cookies are a crucial part of many website functions which we take for granted.

Of course that would fine if that was all but given the number of devious and malign practices operated by means of cookies the EU has legislated that by 26th May, 2012, website visitors must be given the opportunity to opt out of receiving cookies from the site they are visiting.

So, using 'cookie audit software' provided by our ISP I carried out an audit on 21/4/2012 to establish what cookies our site was generating. The results were as follows: -

Area of YWDB site         No of cookies left on PC          Source

Main pages                          1                                    Goodwoodboat.co.uk

Forum                                 0

Data                                   0

As the one cookie found was generated by an external web site no immediate changes to visitors options are planned.
